Senior Clinical Fellow in Colposcopy & Acute Gynaecology

The position will train applicants to become proficient in all aspects of colposcopy, including diagnostic colposcopy and treatment in outpatients and theatre, as well as attending vulval disorders clinics. It also involves caring for emergency gynaecology admissions under the acute gynaecology team for the first 24 hours.
Main duties of the jobCandidate responsibilities include:
- Conducting a ward round of emergency gynaecology patients on call at 08:00 and again in the evening, ensuring continuity of care when handing over.
- No resident on call commitment overnight.
- Training in gynaecological scanning and, where possible, training in minimal access surgery to RCOG level 2.
- Opportunities to train and become accredited in hysteroscopy and obstetric scanning within the department.
- Carrying out an active research programme and managing flexible research time.
- Providing 1-2 sessions per week to support the main rota and other departmental activities.

Person specification Qualifications- MBBS or equivalent
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligibility for full registration if applying from abroad
- MRCOG part 1
- Full MRCOG
- At least one year spent working full time in O&G
- Experience in gynaecology ultrasound
- Experience in obstetrics & gynaecology to ST3 level equivalent
- Initiated some relevant research during their career to date
- Ability to deal with basic management of gynaecological emergencies
- Ability to perform acute gynaecology procedures (diagnostic laparoscopy, laparoscopic salpingectomy, SSM)
- Training in colposcopy. Accreditation with BSCCP
- Advanced gynaecological ultrasound training
- Trained to level 2 laparoscopic surgery
- Organisational and IT skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Good interpersonal skills and a caring attitude to patients
- Commitment to continuing medical education
