Job DescriptionOur client, in Public Health, is seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Engineering Technician to join its technical services team within a busy hospital setting.
This is an excellent role for an experienced clinical engineering professional looking to join a well-established service where they can make a real impact on patient safety, equipment reliability, and frontline clinical support.
The RoleAs Senior Clinical Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in the maintenance, repair, testing, and lifecycle support of a wide range of medical equipment used across hospital services. You will work closely with clinical teams, suppliers, and technical colleagues to ensure equipment is safe, compliant, and fully operational.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing, calibration, and repair of medical devices
- Diagnose faults and provide timely technical solutions across a broad range of equipment
- Perform acceptance testing and electrical safety testing on new and existing devices
- Maintain accurate service documentation, maintenance records, and asset information
- Support equipment commissioning, decommissioning, and replacement planning
- Liaise with ward staff, managers, manufacturers, and external service providers
- Assist with safety alerts, recalls, incident reviews, and risk management processes
- Provide technical guidance and day to day support to junior team members as required
The ideal candidate will have:
- Electronic Engineering Level 8 or equivalent qualification with experience in a related field (e.g. process engineering, R&D etc.) is necessary.
- Strong hands on experience in the maintenance and repair of medical equipment in a healthcare setting
- Excellent fault finding and problem solving skills
- A solid understanding of compliance, safety testing, and servicing standards for medical devices
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team
- Experience working with infusion devices, patient monitors, defibrillators, suction units, ECG, or similar equipment
- Previous experience in a senior or supervisory technical role
- Familiarity with CMMS / asset management systems
- Full driving licence (where travel between sites may be required)
