Job Description
Role 
Senior Category Manager responsible for sourcing and procurement processes related to a complex category such as IT, Faculties, or Estates, Facilities and Campus Development (EFCD). You will collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to develop and implement the category strategy, and manage the tendering process for higher risk and complex contracts. You will oversee the category as a whole and work with a Category Manager to ensure delivery that meets business needs and the University's wider objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a category strategy for one of the University's major procurement categories.
- Ensure value for money on purchases and contracts, considering cost, quality and sustainability, while following procurement best practice.
- Manage the tendering process for higher risk and complex contracts and collaborate with stakeholders and suppliers to achieve category objectives.
- Oversee day-to-day category management and work with a Category Manager to ensure delivery aligns with business needs and strategic goals.
- Good experience of procurement practices and a track record for delivering value for money and service improvement.
- Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) membership would be an advantage.
- Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and provide trusted professional advice.
- Strategic outlook with the ability to take a long-term, broad perspective of the category; strong influence and leadership to enable category strategy success.
- Analytical thinking and reporting experience.
