Reports To: Registered Manager / Care Coordinator
Roughly 50/50 of office/field.
The role is 37 hours per week paid at £16.50 per hour. Mon-Fri are negotiable by business need and carer preference and could fall within an availability pattern of 07.00-22.00. This will involve a mix of office work, attending groups, completing assessments and spot checks, shadowing new starters and completing care calls as required.
Job PurposeTo provide effective leadership and support to care staff outside of standard office hours by undertaking on-call responsibilities during evenings and weekends. The Senior Care Assistant will ensure continuity of care, respond to emergencies, support staff performance and maintain high standards of person-centred care in line with organisational policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- To act as the first point of contact for care staff during evenings and weekends.
- To respond to emergency situations, including missed calls, staff sickness or changes in service user needs.
- To coordinate cover for care calls where required to ensure continuity of care delivery.
- To provide guidance and support to care staff in relation to care delivery, safeguarding concerns or medication queries.
- To ensure all incidents, accidents and safeguarding concerns are reported appropriately in line with company policy.
- To elevate any serious concerns to the Registered Manager as required.
- To participate in the delivery of care where necessary to maintain service provision.
- To communicate effectively with service users, families and healthcare professionals where appropriate.
- To ensure accurate and timely documentation of all on-call activities and incidents.
- To support staff in delivering person-centred care in accordance with care plans and risk assessments.
- To maintain confidentiality and always comply with data protection requirements.
- To provide support, advice and direction to care staff during out-of-hours periods.
- To monitor staff practice and address any performance concerns appropriately.
- To promote safe working practices and adherence to policies and procedures.
- To encourage effective communication between staff and management.
- To contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) achieved or ongoing
- Previous experience within domiciliary care
- Good understanding of safeguarding procedures
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Experience in a senior or supervisory role
- Medication training
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements within adult social care
- To undertake training as required.
- To participate in supervision and appraisal processes.
- To work in accordance with the organisation's policies and procedures at all times.
