About the Role:
My client is expanding operations into Spain and seeking an experienced and proactive Project or Business Development Manager to lead and grow our Spanish operations. Based in Malaga, the role combines business development, project oversight, business implementation and strategic leadership, with travel across Spain to engage with clients and manage project sites.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in the utilities or construction sector, preferably within an SME or startup environment. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic settings, enjoys building relationships, and is looking to progress into a future Operations or Managing Director role within the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across Spain in the utilities, construction, and energy infrastructure sectors.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, partners, and stakeholders.
- Manage and oversee ongoing projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Prepare reports, proposals, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Collaborate with the UK-based CCL Managing Director and Group CEO, who will provide regular support and strategic guidance.
- Represent the company at industry events, site meetings, and with local authorities and partners.
- Contribute to the strategic growth and operational development
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in project delivery, business development, or operations management within Biogas, utilities, construction, or related sectors.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - able to build trust and lead conversations with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Self-starter with a "can-do" attitude, comfortable working independently and remotely with international leadership.
- Analytical thinker with a forward-looking approach to problem-solving and growth opportunities.
- Demonstrated experience working in or helping grow an SME/start-up.
- Willingness and ability to travel across Spain for client and project engagement.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering, or business.
- Working knowledge of the biogas or renewable energy industry is desirable but not essential.
- Fluent in Spanish and English (verbal and written).

Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a similar finance role (SME or startup experience is a plus)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, with occasional office attendance
