Senior Backend Developer

Backend Developer - Berlin (Relocation + Visa Sponsored) - €75K-€120K + Equity

We're hiring a talented Backend Developer to join a fast-growing startup in Berlin. This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage team building cutting-edge recommendation technology, already used by hundreds of global customers and growing rapidly.
You'll work closely with engineering, product, and AI teams to build and scale the infrastructure behind Real Time recommendation systems. This isn't just about writing clean code - it's about building production-ready systems that power products used daily by real users.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable Back End systems that support Real Time AI-powered search and recommendations

• Work with large datasets, APIs, and cloud infrastructure to deliver fast, reliable services

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ship features end-to-end

• Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the Back End roadmap

• Continuously monitor and optimise performance, scalability, and reliability in production

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience building and deploying Back End systems (ideally in a fast-moving environment)

• Strong skills in TypeScript, Python, and modern cloud services (ideally GCP)

• Experience with databases, APIs, and asynchronous job queues

• A pragmatic, hands-on approach with a focus on delivering reliable systems quickly

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills - you'll work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and AI researchers
