Senior Associate - Health & Safety

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Support on a range of investigations including maritime, serious incidents, workplace fatalities and corporate manslaughter.
• Defending clients facing investigation and criminal prosecution by regulatory bodies.
• Draft and review legal documents, including witness statements, investigation reports, and written submissions.
• Liaise with clients, regulators, and experts to gather information and evidence.
• Attend client premises, police stations and court hearings as required.
• Deal with Coronial proceedings.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the team to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Supervise, mentor and support the development of junior lawyers within the team.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified solicitor with experience working in a regulatory team.
• Relevant experience in regulatory and/or criminal health and safety law.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively and efficiently.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using legal research tools and software.
• High level of professionalism and integrity.
• Experience in transport law, environmental law or public inquiries would also be of interest.
• Experience working for regulators, local authorities or with insurers would be considered in lieu of experience working in a regulatory team.
