Senior Application Engineer - Backend (Cloud-Based Application Development)- 6 months - Manchester- Inside IR35

We are seeking a Senior Application Engineer with deep Back End development expertise and strong thought leadership to join our high-performing engineering team. In this role, you will help define technical strategy within your domain, drive engineering excellence across teams, and cultivate a strong developer community. You will mentor junior engineers, champion modern development practices, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure cloud-based applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced technical expertise in Back End development, offering practical solutions and guidance to the engineering team.
• Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)-from requirements analysis and development to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, applying them to improve engineering outcomes.
• Introduce innovative ideas, tools, and methodologies that promote continuous improvement within the team.

What You Will Ideally Bring:

• Preferred: Experience building distributed, scalable microservices using Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot, OAuth 2.0, and secure API design principles.
• Strong understanding of API design for mobile applications and event-driven architecture.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Knowledge of the financial services industry and its regulatory and security considerations.

Contract Details:

• Duration: 6 months
• Day Rate: £450 per day (Inside IR35)
• Location: Manchester - 3 Days per week
• Start Date: ASAP
