The Team:We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our EMEA Utilities Ratings group at the Senior Analyst or Associate Director level. The team's focus is on fundamental credit analysis of both regulated and unregulated utilities businesses in EMEA across the gas, electricity, waste, and water sectors, as well as project finance ratings related to power and utilities sectors.
The Impact:The successful candidate will assume direct analytical responsibility for a portfolio of credits in the region, conducting meetings with management, preparing the analysis, and presenting a rating recommendation to the committee. They will also contribute to the group's research and other publishing efforts, including collaboration with other S&P Global Ratings groups.

- Manage analytical processes for a rating portfolio of credits and support the team in its day to day activities, notably data gathering.
- Perform comprehensive credit analysis utilizing critical thinking and a deep understanding of financial statements to identify key factors affecting issuer credit ratings, applying the relevant S&P Global Ratings criteria.
- Lead new transaction and issuer ratings analysis and deliver outcomes in a timely, orderly, and insightful manner.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of industry trends and external market trends to enhance operational success.
- Take responsibility for ratings as a primary analyst; lead meetings and interact with senior issuer management to base credit rating decisions while building relationships with colleagues outside the immediate team.
- Prepare rating committee documentation with solid financial analysis and attention to detail, present findings and opinions to a credit rating committee.
- Develop material for publication on the S&P Global Ratings credit portal and other media, including rating trends reports, press releases, webinars and detailed commentaries.
- Support the team in day to day activities, notably data gathering, while working autonomously with limited direction.
- Maintain integrity of analytical or compliance related databases as appropriate.
- All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
- At Senior Analyst level: 3 5 years of financial analysis experience with strong analytical skills and deep understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts; at Associate Director level: 5+ years.
- Demonstrate numerical proficiency and accuracy, managing multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
- Show advanced proficiency in developing, interpreting, and working with complex financial and cash flow models, applying data driven thinking.
- Degree level education in a relevant business related field.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) with effective communication skills across functions.
- Capability to navigate challenging conversations with clarity and empathy.
- Ability to work collaboratively, building trust and fostering shared purpose while exercising judgment in structuring work.
- Willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice.
- Candidates who reach the final interview stage must attend at least one in person interview at the nearest S&P Global Ratings office before an offer can be made.
- Knowledge of the utilities or infrastructure sector.
- Prior experience in credit analysis of project finance transactions.
- Relevant Master's degree, CFA, or other financial qualification.
- Ability to speak another European language (e.g., French, Spanish, German).
