Senior Account Handler - Cargo

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and servicing a portfolio of cargo/marine insurance clients, ensuring all documentation and servicing standards are met
• Handling new business, renewals, mid term adjustments, and declarations across cargo risks
• Acting as a technical referral point for junior account handlers and supporting their development where appropriate
• Liaising with underwriters and insurers to negotiate terms, premiums, and coverage
• Preparing and issuing insurance documentation, including policies, endorsements, certificates, and invoices
• Ensuring compliance with FCA regulations, internal procedures, and market standards
• Maintaining accurate records on internal systems and ensuring data integrity
• Supporting Account Executives with client meetings, presentations, and renewal strategies
• Proactively identifying opportunities to improve client retention and service delivery

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in an Account Handler role within cargo/marine insurance
• Strong technical knowledge of cargo insurance products, clauses, and wordings
• Experience working within a brokerage or underwriting environment
• Ability to manage complex cases and work autonomously
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• High level of attention to detail and organisational ability
• Confident using insurance systems and Microsoft Office
• Cert CII or progress towards ACII (desirable but not essential)

An established insurance brokerage is seeking an experienced Senior Account Handler to support and manage a portfolio of cargo and marine insurance clients. This role sits at the heart of the client servicing function, working closely with Account Executives, insurers, and international markets to deliver a high standard of technical and commercial support.

The successful individual will bring strong technical knowledge of cargo insurance, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to handle complex placements and renewals with minimal supervision.
