Senior 3D Piping Designer TPM6053

Summary: A Senior 3D Piping Designer is required for a leading biopharmaceutical company in West Cork. The successful candidate will join the on-site Projects team, supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary capital projects from concept through to construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D and 3D piping designs, coordinating layouts, supporting equipment integration and ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements within a GMP manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce 2D and 3D piping layouts and designs from concept through to construction issue.
• Develop and maintain 3D models of piping systems and pipe supports using industry-standard CAD software.
• Generate piping design deliverables including General Arrangement drawings, piping isometrics and pipe support details.
• Coordinate piping designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure effective integration across projects.
• Review vendor equipment information and support equipment layout and design activities.
• Review and validate piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings and design deliverables to ensure quality and compliance.
• Coordinate and review designs from other engineering disciplines to ensure compatibility within the overall project layout.
• Liaise with laser scanning contractors to obtain and integrate as-built information into project designs.
• Conduct site surveys and gather measurements to support design development and project execution.
• Participate in and lead 3D model review meetings with project stakeholders.
• Ensure all design work complies with applicable engineering standards, specifications and GMP requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Associate Degree, relevant technical qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in piping layout, piping design and pipe support design within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience using 3D CAD design software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D and Navisworks Simulate.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience using AutoCAD 2D.
• Strong knowledge of piping design standards, specifications, engineering procedures and best practices.
• Extensive experience designing pipe supports and coordinating piping systems.
• Working knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3 piping codes.
• Experience working with equipment layout, installation and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Knowledge of pipe stress analysis and experience collaborating with pipe stress engineers.
• Experience leading 3D model review meetings and coordinating technical design reviews.
• Site engineering or construction experience would be an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
