Design the filters that power next-generation connectivity

If you are an experienced Microwave Filter Design Engineer looking to work on genuinely complex, high-performance RF technology, this is an opportunity to step into an environment where engineering excellence is at the centre of everything.

This role sits within a highly specialised engineering business operating at the forefront of RF, microwave and mmWave technology. Their work supports critical communication systems across defence, aerospace, space and advanced telecoms.

You will take ownership of sophisticated filter designs that move from concept through to production, working on projects where precision, reliability and performance are non-negotiable.

What makes this role different?
  • Work on mission critical RF and microwave systems used in real world, high reliability environments
  • Be part of a team that values deep technical expertise and hands on engineering
  • Take ownership of end to end filter design, not just analysis
  • Contribute to next generation product development and innovation
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers in a business known for engineering credibility and technical excellence
What you will be doing
  • Take full responsibility for the design and development of RF and microwave filters and subsystems
  • Deliver designs from concept through simulation, prototyping, validation and release
  • Carry out filter simulation, optimisation and tolerance analysis
  • Lead or contribute to new product introduction activities, ensuring designs are production ready
  • Conduct hands on tuning, testing and validation using lab equipment including VNAs
  • Produce and maintain high quality technical documentation and design packs
  • Support customer interaction during technical discussions and project delivery
  • Contribute to R&D activities focused on next generation filter technologies

You will need to demonstrate:
  • Strong experience designing RF / microwave filters such as:
    • Cavity filters
    • Waveguide filters
    • Dielectric or ceramic filters
    • Duplexers or multiplexers
  • Hands on experience across the full design lifecycle, including:
    • Simulation and modelling using tools such as Microwave Office, CST, ADS or HFSS
    • Working with S parameters, insertion loss and return loss
    • Practical tuning, optimisation and validation
  • Laboratory experience including VNA testing and filter tuning
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production led environment such as:
    • RF or microwave component manufacturing
    • Defence, aerospace, space or telecoms
  • Involvement in taking designs into production, including NPI processes
  • Ability to operate at Senior or Principal Engineer level, with ownership of designs and contribution to project delivery
What will set you apart
  • Experience working on passive RF components and high reliability systems
  • Background in RF subsystem or component focused organisations
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical workstreams
Eligibility requirements

Due to the nature of the work, you must:

  • Have the right to work in the UK without restriction
