Barnardo's Portsmouth SENDIASS - Part time SENDIASS Advisor

Barnardo's Portsmouth SENDIASS is looking to appoint a part time SENDIASS Advisor who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with a special educational need or disability (SEND). We are looking for someone who can enable children, young people and their parents/carers to participate fully in decisions about the outcomes they wish to achieve through the provision of impartial and accurate information, advice and support.

Is this you?

This role requires a high level of competence. You must be able to work both individually and in a team, and have experience managing a fast paced work environment and delivering good quality statutory information, advice, support and representation. You must be confident to work directly with families, responding to requests for support via email, telephone and face to face.

You will have up to date knowledge and understanding of SEND and its statutory procedures, including matters related to health and social care. You will be familiar with relevant legislation including the SEND Code of Practice 2015, the Equality Act 2010 and the IAS national standards. You will be able to work across Portsmouth, attending community events and meetings with families face to face.

You will have experience supporting children and families, ideally within a SEND or other relevant setting.
