Our SEND School Transport Team sits within the Admissions & Commissioning Team in the People Directorate and works to ensure children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can access home-to-school transport smoothly and safely.
The roleAs a SEND Transport Support Officer, you will play a key part in helping families navigate the home-to-school transport process. Your day-to-day tasks will include processing applications, gathering and preparing documentation, keeping accurate records, and responding to routine enquiries.
You will often be the first point of contact for parents and carers, offering reassurance and clear information-sometimes in emotionally charged situations. You'll also support panel preparation, work with Specialist Transport Services, maintain inboxes and data systems, and elevate complex cases to senior officers when required. This is a fixed-term post for 2 years, working 37 hours per week.
What's needed?We are looking for someone who can bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and confidence in handling sensitive information. You must have:
- Experience managing confidential information.
- Strong IT skills, especially in Word, Excel and email.
- Experience collating and analysing information.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- The ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines.
- A broad understanding of commissioning and/or children's services.
Experience with SAP, Mosaic or similar data systems is helpful but not essential.
