Primary SEND Teaching Assistant

A Primary School in Plymouth is seeking a caring and reliable SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is crucial in supporting pupils with additional learning and emotional needs within a welcoming and inclusive school environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Work closely with class teachers and support staff to help pupils with special educational needs engage with learning, develop independence, and maintain emotional regulation throughout the school day.
• Provide tailored support to suit individual pupils as their needs change, which may involve one-to-one assistance, small group work, or contributing to learning within the wider classroom.
• Employ a flexible and empathetic approach to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring a supportive learning atmosphere.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Patient, calm, and supportive demeanour.
• Confidence in working with children with SEND.
• Flexibility in approach and ability to adapt to different learning and emotional needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Experience in education, care, or support roles is beneficial, though strong candidates with relevant transferable skills from backgrounds such as care or youth work are also encouraged to apply.
