Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (x3)

Salary: £15,019 - £15,353.30 pro rata (Full Time Equivalent £26,966 - £27,566)

Location: Multiple sites - Waterfront and Pioneer centres, Kirklees College

Hours: 24 hours a week, 38 weeks per year (Classroom delivery 8:30am - 9pm)

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver group learning activities within and outside the classroom with input from tutors.
• Identify individual SEND needs through initial assessments and complete inclusion plans for others to follow.
• Work with adult learners and apprentices with SEND to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.
• Collaborate with other areas of the college to support a whole-college SEND approach.
• Maintain flexibility to accommodate the 38 week curriculum and classroom delivery times.
• Commit to safeguarding and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Qualifications

• Teaching Assistant qualification or willingness to work towards one.
• Previous experience in a post 16 environment with learners with additional learning needs.
• Minimum Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to encourage high aspirations.
• Capacity to manage change and work collaboratively across the college.
• Demonstrated commitment to the college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence.
