Job Overview

Location: Slough. Pay: £92.63 per day. Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Primary SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEND unit within a mainstream primary school in Slough. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with children who require additional support, helping them to access learning and develop both academically and personally within a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. You will help children engage with activities, regulate their emotions and build confidence throughout the school day. A calm, patient and nurturing approach is essential, alongside the ability to manage behaviour effectively and consistently. You will be comfortable providing personal care where required and be physically active, as the role involves being on your feet for much of the day supporting pupils across different activities and settings. Strong observational skills are important, as is the ability to remain vigilant and respond proactively to the individual needs of each child.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must have at least one year of experience supporting children with SEND and be confident working in a hands on environment. You should be capable of working in one-to-one situations, building positive relationships and providing a safe, structured and encouraging presence for pupils.

Other Requirements

The role is temporary unless stated otherwise. Applicants must be prepared to provide an up-to-date DBS and to comply with mandatory checks in line with DfE guidelines. If the role involves working with children or vulnerable adults, it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.

Equal Opportunities

Axcis is an equal opportunities employer and does not discriminate based on age, gender, disability, race or any other criteria. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Remuneration

Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.
