Job Description
SEND Teaching Assistant - Full-time, long-term temporary position, starting April 2026 
This is an excellent opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school environment in Rainham, Essex. The school is committed to ensuring that every child receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically and socially. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing atmosphere where pupils feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with special educational needs
- Assist teachers in implementing personalised learning plans
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
- Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs
- Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the class teacher and SENCO
- Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Contribute to safeguarding and well-being practices across the school
- At least 3 months' experience working with SEND pupils in a school setting
- Relevant qualifications are an advantage but not essential
- Ability to work flexibly across different year groups
- Strong understanding of strategies to support pupils with diverse needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Committed to promoting inclusion and safeguarding children
- Salary paid weekly through PAYE, dependent on experience
