Job Description
About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Sheffield. This role involves supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access the curriculum, develop independence, and thrive in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, and speech & language needs
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCO
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with SEND in a primary setting (preferred)
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
