We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a learner with complex needs within the home environment. The successful candidate will work closely with and be supported by a qualified teacher, helping to deliver tailored learning activities and provide consistent, structured support to meet the learner's individual needs.
The role involves assisting with educational activities, supporting engagement with learning, and helping to create a calm, safe and supportive environment where the learner can thrive. The Teaching Assistant will play an important role in helping the learner access the curriculum, develop confidence and make progress both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide 1:1 support to a learner with complex needs within the home setting.
- Support the delivery of individualised learning activities planned by the qualified teacher.
- Help maintain a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Use clear communication, patience and encouragement to support engagement.
- Implement strategies to support the learner's communication, behaviour and emotional regulation where needed.
- Work collaboratively with the qualified teacher and other professionals to support the learner's development.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to the teacher where appropriate.
- Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Has experience supporting learners with complex SEND needs.
- Patient, calm and able to build positive, trusting relationships with learners.
- Confident supporting 1:1 learning and adapting activities to meet individual needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Passionate about supporting learners with additional needs and helping them reach their potential.
£15.00 - £20.00 per hour
