We are supporting a high-performing secondary school to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant to join its established SEND department. This role is ideal for someone who wants to work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, supporting both academic progress and personal development in and beyond the classroom.
The RoleYou will work as part of a SEND support team, providing in class and out of class support to students with identified SEND needs. This includes 1:1 support and small group interventions, and contributing to a positive, structured learning environment. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, regulate behaviour, and make meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities- Support students with SEND in lessons and during structured interventions
- Deliver targeted small group support programmes
- Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum effectively
- Support behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Promote a calm, purposeful learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams
- Monitor and support pupil progress and engagement
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Ability to support learning and behaviour effectively
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Calm, consistent and reliable approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
- Experience delivering small group interventions
- Experience supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
- Experience working in a secondary school setting
- Understanding of a range of SEND profiles
