SEND Teaching Assistant - Harrogate

About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in the Harrogate area on a long term basis. This full time position is available to start September, with shortlisting currently underway.

The school is committed to providing a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment where students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting secondary aged pupils with SEND to engage positively in lessons and the wider school environment
• Assisting with the delivery of tailored learning activities and differentiated support
• Implementing behaviour management strategies, emotional regulation techniques, and individual support plans
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support student progress and wellbeing

Pre-requisites:

• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, youth work, or support work
• Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally in a secondary setting
• Strong knowledge of behaviour management, de escalation strategies, and emotional regulation approaches
• Two professional references, ideally from education or school based settings
