Special Needs Teacher (Secondary) - Long Term to Permanent basis

A specialist education provider in West Berkshire is seeking a dedicated and resilient Special Needs Teacher to join their team, supporting secondary-aged students with a range of complex needs. About the Setting
The successful teacher will be joining a highly supportive, well-structured alternative provision catering to students with:
- Autism (ASC)
- ADHD
- Social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH)
- Trauma-related needs
- Various cognitive and complex learning difficulties
Classes are intentionally small, with a maximum of six learners, supported by at least two members of staff, ensuring a nurturing environment and excellent adult-to-student ratios.
The Role
The Special Needs Teacher will:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning profiles
- Create a safe, positive, and structured learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and senior leaders
- Build strong, trusting relationships that support long-term emotional and academic development
- Contribute to individual learning plans and wider curriculum planning
This role includes full planning and preparation responsibilities and will be paid to the appropriate Main Teacher Scale, offering long-term stability with the potential to become permanent.
Experience & Requirements
Desired (but not essential):
- Experience teaching or supporting learners within special education, alternative provision, or PRU settings
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice, autism strategies, and SEMH approaches
- Confidence managing behaviour using restorative and relational methods
