Job Description

This role is ideal for a tutor who understands the importance of relationship-building, emotional safety, and flexible learning, and who is confident supporting a learner who is not currently accessing a mainstream school setting.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 tuition in a low-pressure, student-led environment
  • Prioritise building trust and confidence before introducing academic learning
  • Support gradual re-engagement with education
  • Adapt learning to suit the individual's pace, interests, and emotional needs
  • Introduce academic content sensitively once the learner is ready
  • Encourage motivation and positive attitudes towards future learning and qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months' experience working within a UK based educational setting
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people
  • Patient, flexible, and emotionally aware approach
  • Confidence working 1:1 and adapting sessions as needed

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting pupils with EBSA
  • Experience working with SEN, including anxiety-related needs
  • Background in alternative provision, home tutoring, or pastoral support

What We're Looking For

  • A tutor who won't rush into academics
  • Someone who can create a safe, calm, and predictable learning environment
  • A reflective practitioner who adapts their approach based on what works for the student
  • Someone who values progress in confidence and engagement as much as academic outcomes

If you are passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to education and can offer a calm, nurturing 1:1 approach, we would love to hear from you.
