Job Description

About the Role:
A welcoming, inclusive primary school in Ealing is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role involves providing 1:1 support for a child in KS2 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them access learning, develop social skills, and regulate behaviour in a safe, nurturing environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs-whether you have school-based experience, a background in youth work, or have worked as a support worker in a care or community setting.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide consistent, tailored 1:1 support for a child with autism within a mainstream classroom
  • Assist with learning activities, communication strategies, and behaviour support
  • Help deliver targeted interventions for social, emotional, and academic development
  • Work closely with the school's SENCO, class teachers, and external specialists
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom and playground environment

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with additional needs or a strong willingness to learn
  • Team Teach training is desirable but not essential (training can be provided)
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach to managing challenging behaviours
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships quickly
  • Background in youth work, social care, or support work considered highly beneficial
  • Available for a full-time, term-time position

What the school offers:

  • Supportive and experienced SEN and pastoral teams
  • A welcoming, inclusive school community
  • Ongoing CPD opportunities, including behaviour management and autism-specific training
  • Potential for a long-term or permanent role for the right candidate
