- Hourly Rate: £14.63

- Working Hours: 08:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday
- Start Date: April 2026
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Blackburn. This role involves working closely with a Key Stage 2 child who has ADHD and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). The ideal candidate will have experience managing challenging behaviour and a strong commitment to supporting the educational and emotional development of children with special educational needs.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide tailored support to a KS2 student with ADHD and PDA, focusing on both academic and behavioural needs.
- Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviours in a positive and effective manner.
- Work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs).
- Facilitate a safe and supportive environment that encourages the student's engagement and participation.
- Monitor and record the student's progress, adapting techniques as needed to suit their evolving needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to ensure consistency in support both at school and at home.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar role, particularly with children who have ADHD and/or PDA.
- Strong understanding of the strategies needed to manage challenging behaviours effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach to working with children with special educational needs.
