Maths & English Teachers - Specialist Education Setting (Rolling Recruitment) About the School

We are working with a well-established specialist school within Telford that provides a nurturing and structured environment for children and young people with additional needs. The school is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning space where every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential-academically, socially, and emotionally. With small class sizes and a strong focus on individualised learning, staff are able to build meaningful relationships and make a genuine impact on students' progress.

The Needs of the Pupils

The school supports pupils with a range of additional learning needs, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, as well as associated behavioural and communication difficulties. Many students may have experienced disruption in their education and benefit from a consistent, patient, and highly supportive approach. Teaching here requires adaptability, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping young people re engage with learning and build confidence.

The Role

We are seeking dedicated Maths and English teachers to join the school on a rolling basis. Successful candidates will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Support pupils in developing core literacy and numeracy skills
  • Foster a positive and structured classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider staff
  • Contribute to behaviour support strategies and pastoral care
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting approaches where necessary

Requirements
  • Experience teaching Maths or English at primary and/or secondary level
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build rapport with pupils
  • A flexible, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Experience working with SEN/SEMH pupils is highly desirable (but not essential for the right candidate)
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Relevant subject specialism in Maths or English
  • Additional SEN qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)
