A specialist SEN school in Bury is seeking an experienced and committed SEN Teacher to join their team. This role is suited to a qualified teacher with a background in specialist education who is passionate about supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs.
The school supports children and young people with needs including Autism Spectrum Condition, SEMH and complex learning needs. Pupils benefit from a highly structured and nurturing learning environment where individual needs are prioritised, and progress is celebrated in many forms.
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a personalised curriculum that meets the diverse needs of pupils within your class. You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider professionals to create a calm, inclusive and purposeful learning environment.
Planning will be adapted to suit individual learning styles, communication needs and emotional regulation requirements, with a strong focus on consistency, routine and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
- Teach pupils with ASC, SEMH and complex learning needs
- Create a structured, supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- Assess progress using appropriate SEN assessment methods
- Develop and review EHCP led targets
- Lead and support teaching assistants and support staff
- Work collaboratively with therapists, families and external agencies
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and behaviour management
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status
- Have proven experience working within specialist SEN schools
- Be confident teaching pupils with a range of additional needs
- Demonstrate a flexible and reflective approach to teaching
- Be calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations
- Support a child centred and inclusive ethos
Additional qualifications or training related to SEN, such as autism education, SEMH practice or behaviour support, are beneficial but not essential.
