Are you a dedicated and skilled SEN professional looking for a meaningful permanent role? We are currently seeking a Specialist Teaching Assistant with Braille proficiency to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Crawley starting this September.
The RoleThis is a unique opportunity to provide vital 1:1 support for a student with visual impairments. You will play a key role in ensuring they have full access to the curriculum, fostering both their academic progress and their independence within the school community.
Key Responsibilities- Transcribing classroom materials into Braille and vice versa to ensure lesson accessibility.
- Providing tailored 1:1 support to help the student navigate the school environment and social interactions.
- Collaborating closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO to adapt learning resources.
- Supporting the student's use of specialist equipment and assistive technology.
- Encouraging emotional resilience and a positive "can-do" attitude toward learning.
- Braille Proficiency: You must have a working knowledge of Braille (UEB) to support a primary-aged student effectively.
- SEN Experience: Previous experience working with children with Visual Impairments (VI) or complex needs is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust with the student, staff, and parents.
- Commitment: As this is a permanent role, we are looking for someone who wants to grow with the school and provide long-term stability for the student.
