SEN Graduate Academic MentorCould you be the consistent support a student with Autism and complex needs relies on each day? Are you looking for meaningful secondary SEN experience before moving into educational or clinical psychology? SEN Graduate Academic Mentor September 2026 to July 2027 £85 - £101 per day 'Good' secondary school, Ward of Edgbaston 1:1 support for a student with Autism and Complex NeedsThe Role: Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with Autism and complex needs across the school day. You will help the pupil follow routines, access learning, stay engaged in lessons, manage transitions, and build confidence, while feeding back clearly to teachers and the SENCO. The SEND Code of Practice remains the statutory guidance schools follow for identifying need, putting support in place, and reviewing the impact of support, while SEN teaching assistants are described by National Careers as supporting teachers to help children and young people with disabilities and special educational needs.The Candidate: You are calm, observant, and able to build trust through consistency and clear communication. You want practical school-based experience, you can stay patient in a busy secondary setting, and you are interested in how structured support helps a young person with additional needs feel secure and make progress. This role would suit a graduate who wants relevant SEN experience before progressing into educational or clinical psychology.Requirements
- Degree - A 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication - Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
- Enhanced DBS - Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
- Desire to work in education/with children - Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Career Goals - A desire to pursue a career in educational or clinical psychology.
