Additional Learning Support Assistant (ALS)

A forward-thinking college in the Wirral is looking for a dedicated Additional Learning Support Assistant to join its student support team. This rewarding position involves working closely with students who require additional support to fully engage in their education and reach their potential.
About the RoleIn this role, you will:
- Provide tailored classroom and one-to-one support for students with additional learning needs
- Assist learners with a range of SEND needs including autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties, and SEMH needs
- Support learners in both academic and practical learning environments
- Encourage participation, motivation, confidence, and independence
- Collaborate with tutors and curriculum staff to create accessible and inclusive learning experiences
- Monitor student engagement and contribute to progress reviews and support records
- Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and safeguarding across the college environment
- Have experience supporting learners with additional needs in an educational or care setting
- Be compassionate, patient, and approachable
- Possess strong communication and teamwork skills
- Be adaptable and confident supporting learners with varying needs and abilities
- Demonstrate a genuine commitment to equality, inclusion, and learner development
- Hold a relevant support qualification or be willing to undertake further training
- Understanding of SEND legislation and EHCP processes
- Previous experience in further education, secondary education, or specialist provision
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and pastoral support
- Experience supporting literacy, numeracy, or Functional Skills
- Awareness of safeguarding procedures and the Prevent Duty
