Our client, a leading educational institution in Bristol, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ensuring they receive the guidance and support necessary to thrive in their educational journey.
- Work closely with the classroom teacher to develop and implement individualised support plans for students with SEMH needs
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being and encourages student engagement
- Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating regularly with the classroom teacher and other relevant staff
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals, such as educational psychologists and therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to student support
- Assist in the development and delivery of behaviour management strategies, promoting positive behaviour and addressing challenging behaviours when necessary
- Contribute to the planning and preparation of learning materials and resources that cater to the diverse needs of students with SEMH
- Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with SEMH needs
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
- Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH and the strategies to support their learning and well-being
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Proficient in the use of technology to support learning and record-keeping
- Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment
