SEMH Teaching Assistant - York

About the role:

Justteachers is looking to appoint an SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a caring and resilient school community in the York area on a long term, temp to perm pathway.

This full time role begins in September, and the school is currently reviewing applications. The setting is dedicated to offering a calm, consistent and emotionally aware environment where pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs can develop confidence, stability and a positive attitude toward learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Encouraging pupils with SEMH needs to participate positively in lessons and daily routines
• Using behaviour support techniques, emotional regulation tools and tailored interventions
• Collaborating with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals to enhance pupil wellbeing

Pre requisites:

• Qualifications related to education, childcare, youth work or support work
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
• Strong understanding of behaviour support, de escalation and emotional regulation approaches
• Two education or school based references
