SEMH Support Assistant - Barnet - September 2026 Start

Are you a SEMH Support Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity supporting a pupil with SEMH and high-level SEND needs?

This SEMH Support Assistant role is ideal for a SEMH Support Assistant who is patient, adaptable and confident supporting a child with additional needs. We are seeking a SEMH Support Assistant to join a primary school in Barnet from September 2026, working closely with a Lower KS2 pupil to support their learning, emotional development and classroom engagement.

As a SEMH Support Assistant, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a male pupil in Lower KS2, helping them access the curriculum, manage challenges and build confidence within the classroom environment.

Role Overview
  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to a Lower KS2 pupil with SEMH and high-level SEND needs.
  • Support the pupil with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement throughout the school day.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship, providing reassurance, structure and encouragement.
  • Adapt learning approaches and communication strategies to meet the pupil's individual needs.
Candidate Profile
  • A bachelor's degree in any subject from a UK university.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach when supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong ability to build positive relationships and maintain consistent boundaries.
