Security Supervisor

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self motivated individual to join the Security team at the Alexandra Hospital part of Worcestershire Acute NHS Foundation Trust.

To provide a high quality security service, to patients, staff, visitors, and contractors within hospital premises and car parks in accordance with Security Industry Authority (SIA) guidelines and Trust specifications.

Shift Pattern

Permanent nights Friday - Thursday 18:00 - 06:00

Main duties of the job

Undertake necessary duties to ensure the maintenance of an efficient security service. These duties will be carried out in both internal and external environments.

To assist visitors to the hospital site with general enquiries, in a pleasant and helpful manner.

All work must be undertaken in line with health and safety, security and relevant trust policies and procedures.

Where required, you may also need to assist with the emergency and evacuation procedures in accordance with the trust policy.

Job responsibilities

The post holder is responsible for delivering a high quality security service to patients, staff, visitors, and contractors across hospital premises and associated car parks, in full compliance with Security Industry Authority (SIA) regulations and Trust standards.

Duties include maintaining a safe and secure environment by undertaking all necessary security tasks across both internal and external areas of the site. The role requires vigilance, professionalism, and the ability to respond appropriately to incidents and general security matters.

The post holder will also assist visitors with general enquiries, providing clear information and support in a courteous and helpful manner.

All responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation, security requirements, and Trust policies and procedures.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Good basic education
  • Conflict Management training
  • Physical Intervention training
  • Valid Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence
  • Experience of working in both internal and external settings is desirable.

Experience
  • Experience working in a security role.
  • Experience of working in a public facing/customer service environment.
  • Experience of operating in both internal and external environments
  • Previous experience within an NHS or healthcare environment.
  • Experience of writing incident reports and using security systems (e.g., CCTV, access control systems).
Knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge of security procedures and incident response.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Ability to follow and implement trust policies and procedures. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with visitors, patients, staff, and contractors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, including in challenging situations
  • Knowledge of NHS values and Trust policies.
  • Basic IT skills for reporting and communication purposes.
