About The RoleLocation: Welcome Genome Campus, Hinxton Hall. Hours: Wednesday and Thursdays 07:00 - 15:00 & 07:30 - 15:30. The Security Receptionist is responsible for providing a professional front of house service while maintaining the safety and security of the premises. The role combines customer service, access control, and security monitoring to ensure all visitors, staff, and contractors are managed in line with site procedures.
Key Responsibilities Front of House & Customer Service- Provide a professional and welcoming reception service to all visitors and staff.
- Act as the first point of contact for enquiries (in person, phone, and email).
- Maintain a high standard of customer care at all times.
- Issue visitor badges and ensure sign in procedures are followed.
- Notify hosts promptly of visitor arrivals.
- Monitor and control access to the building in accordance with site procedures.
- Verify identification and authorisation of visitors and contractors.
- Operate access control security systems.
- Challenge unauthorised persons in a professional manner.
- Maintain and distribute security keys and passes.
- Maintain reception records and documentation.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail or deliveries (if required).
- Update visitor management systems.
- Produce reports as requested by management.
- Manage incoming/outgoing calls and emails.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Good IT skills (Microsoft Office and security systems).
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow procedures precisely.
- SIA key holder.
- Previous security or front of house experience.
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience with visitor management systems.
- Professional and approachable.
- Vigilant and security conscious.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Confident communicator.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- General education to Level 2 - GCSE Grades A -C or equivalent.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel.
- Discreet when handling sensitive information.
- Must hold (or be willing to obtain) an SIA licence if required by the site.
- Must comply with all company policies including Health & Safety, Data Protection, and Security Procedures.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK and pass required background screening.
- Based at reception/front of house area.
- Role requires prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing.
