Justteachers are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors to support the growing demand for secondary school supply cover across the Peterborough area. With a high volume of daily bookings available from September, this is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for flexible work, as well as those seeking regular full-time placements.

Working across a range of welcoming and supportive secondary schools, successful candidates will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff. This position is ideal for experienced Cover Supervisors, graduates considering a career in education, teaching assistants looking to progress, or individuals with experience working with young people in a classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students remain on task
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and expectations
• Create a positive and productive learning environment
• Support students with their learning and encourage engagement with set work
• Record attendance and report any issues or concerns to appropriate staff
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson outcomes and student behaviour
• Adapt confidently to different school settings, subjects, and year groups
• Promote high standards of behaviour, respect, and achievement
• Build positive relationships with students, staff, and school leaders
• Follow safeguarding procedures and promote student welfare at all times
• Represent Justteachers professionally within partner schools

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with secondary-aged students in an educational, youth work, coaching, or similar setting is desirable
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent classroom management and behaviour management abilities
• Confidence leading groups of students independently
• Flexibility and adaptability to work across different schools and environments
• A professional, proactive, and positive approach
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Two recent professional references
