Seasonal Laboratory Analyst

The position is TEMPORARY, employment will run from early September 2026 to end February 2027 (to be confirmed).

British Sugar is the leading Sugar supplier in the UK and one of the most efficient Sugar processors in the world.

Sampling process streams across a large manufacturing site, carrying out both routine and ad-hoc analysis to support factory operations.

• Safe collection of manufacturing samples from the factory.
• Updating of laboratory sample inventory.
• Carry out specific sample preparation and analysis methods according to instruction in a safe manner.
• Accurate and organised recording of results.
• Flagging and discussion of issues and observations.
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised work environment to ensure smooth running.
• Engage and cooperate with other team members to deliver on a dynamic work schedule.
• Travel with team members to other British Sugar sites.
• Good communication and timekeeping skills.
• Ability to carry out simple mathematical calculations.
• Strong safety awareness.
• Basic IT knowledge.

• Previous experience working in the laboratory environment.
• Scientific qualifications at GCSE/GCE level.

• Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely are essential, together with the observational presence to raise emerging issues or unusual results.
