Job Description
Job Description 
- To ensure physics apparatus is prepared and delivered to the classrooms for the lessons as ordered by Physics department staff.
- To check and clear away physics equipment once it is finished with.
- To prepare materials and equipment for lessons and projects, including preparation of demonstration materials and resources, and the stocking of classrooms with consumable items.
- Maintain the good order and organisation of the physics department and its storage facilities.
- To control and store safely all chemicals and ionising radiation materials, ensuring that current Health & Safety, COSHH are adhered to.
- To assist teachers and students before, during and after lessons.
- To prepare display materials and equipment for parents' evenings; remove and display items of work around the school, as and when requested.
- To support the Health & Safety documentation/risk assessments in the department.
- Occasional supervision of classes where alternative cover is unavailable or inappropriate.
- Cleaning and checking of the equipment associated with ionising radiation.
- Arrangements for the delivery and storage of liquid nitrogen as needed.
- Research and advise on purchase of equipment with Head of Physics and Senior Technician.
- Data entry of exam marks into physics departmental records.
- Attendance of the Science Technicians meeting weekly.
- Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4pm term time only
- Start Date: September 2026
- Salary: £20,720.00 (actual)
- Enrolment in the statutory auto-enrolment pension scheme. The employer and employee contribution rates for the auto-enrolment pension scheme are currently: Employee contribution 5% and Employer contribution 3%.
