As a Volunteer School Governor, you will play a crucial role in the strategic management of the school, ensuring that every child receives the best possible education. You will work collaboratively with other governors, the headteacher, and school staff to set the school's vision, ethos, and strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's strategic plan.
- Accountability: Hold the headteacher and senior leaders accountable for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
- Financial Oversight: Ensure the school's budget is managed effectively and that resources are allocated appropriately.
- Policy Development: Assist in the creation and review of school policies to ensure they meet statutory requirements and reflect the school's values.
- Community Engagement: Act as a link between the school and the local community, fostering positive relationships and promoting the school's achievements.
- Training and Development: Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your effectiveness as a governor.

A governor must be aged 18 or over at the time of their election or appointment.
