School Crossing Patrol Officer - Stock CE Primary School

Permanent, Part Time

£13.46 per hour

Location: Billericay

Working style: Community-based worker

Job description: Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations. The position is for approximately 7.5 hours per week, with a holiday pay element included. Available 39 weeks of the academic year, 45 minutes between 08:00 - 09:00 in the morning and 45 minutes between 14:45 - 15:45 in the afternoon, depending on site requirements. Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Consider the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility impaired individuals using the crossing point.
  • Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
  • Regularly assess risks associated with operating at the crossing site and identify problems; report problems and defects to supervisor.
  • Assist in preparing reports on accidents, failure to stop incidents, and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
  • Ensure uniform and equipment remain in good condition and request replacements when needed.
  • Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic, ensuring the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.
