Job Description
School Cook

Responsible to: The Catering Manager / The Operations Manager.

Status: Permanent/Term Time + 3 half terms.

Hours of work: 32 hrs per week (4 days out of 7). Hours will include some evening/weekend work.

Hourly rate: Up to £14.57 per hour (dependent on age and experience), inclusive of holiday pay.

An opportunity has become available to join our committed and friendly catering team as a School Cook at Adcote School. We are looking for a hard working, enthusiastic cook with excellent standards of customer care.

With training and uniform provided, we require an affable and conscientious cook who works on excellent quality, fresh foods and outstanding service delivery. Pride in your abilities and a desire to prove that you are one of the best will be valued.

Previous experience of catering within a boarding school environment would be an advantage, but the successful candidate must be flexible, reliable, friendly and committed to delivering excellent food along with great customer service. Working closely with the Catering Manager, a flexible 'can do' approach and the ability to deliver consistent excellence with a genuine smile is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Help provide and maintain an efficient service, following company values, policies and procedures.
  • Preparation and service of food and beverages using seasonal, fresh ingredients and working within the financial parameters of the school.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school staff at all levels.
  • Maintain excellent service to pupils and staff at all times.
  • Ensure implementation and maintenance of all statutory and company standards of hygiene, food safety and health & safety, including delivery of training.
  • Preparing quality food items and producing exciting, innovative menus.
  • Ensure food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty.
  • Ensure daily bookwork and temperature records are kept to the required standards.
  • Keep all equipment, refrigerators and storerooms clean and tidy.
  • Ensure food and supply items are stored correctly.
  • Assist with managing orders and receiving of all food and supplies as needed.
  • Make sure kitchen and service areas are clean, tidy and well presented during opening times.
  • Set up counter for service and serve, ensuring customers are served promptly during busy periods.
  • Lead and motivate the team.
  • Use a well organised approach to work.
  • Work in the washing up area.
  • Clear and clean down at the end of the shift.
