Timber Machinist / Sawmill Operative South Petherton, Somerset Permanent £13.85-£14.50 per hour

We're supporting an established business in South Petherton with the recruitment of a Timber Machinist to join its sawmill team. You'll help turn customer orders into accurately cut and finished timber, working with a range of machinery including rip saws, bandsaws and moulders.

What you'll be doing

• Selecting timber and cutting or machining it to order specifications
• Checking measurements and the quality of finished products
• Working carefully to make the best use of each piece of timber
• Recording completed work on production paperwork or systems
• Stacking, banding and labelling orders ready for dispatch
• Keeping your work area clean, tidy and safe

What we're looking for

Previous sawmill or woodworking machinery experience would be ideal. You'll be comfortable with measurements, able to work accurately to deadlines and happy with the physical side of the job, including regularly lifting timber.

A forklift licence would be useful, but it isn't essential. Product-specific training can be provided.

Hours and benefits

• Hours: Monday to Friday, 7am-4pm, 40 hours per week
• Pay: £13.85-£14.50 per hour, depending on experience
• Holiday: 20 days plus bank holidays, with a service-based holiday bonus scheme
