To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
- A strong background in IBK/Markets; preferably CCO, Compliance, or Internal Audit roles.
- Technical skills to understand and navigate business processes and infrastructure front-to-back.
- Understanding of governance and control frameworks, and approaches to design/remediation.
- Stakeholder interaction and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities efficiently and effectively.

Purpose of the roleTo assess the integrity and effectiveness of the bank's internal control framework to support risk mitigation and the protection of the bank's operational, financial, and reputational interests.
Accountabilities- Knowledge of business areas, products, processes, and platforms to assess risk.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders across the bank to improve control effectiveness through detailed documentation of assessments, procedures, and findings.
- Identify and investigate potential weaknesses within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation, prioritising issues by severity.
- Develop reports to communicate key findings, control weaknesses, and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and stakeholders.
- Conduct reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework in line with policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Ensure adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and establish appropriate methodologies for control assessment.
- Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and collaborate with other functions and divisions.
- Lead assignments, guide team members, and identify new directions for projects, integrating cross-functional methodologies.
- Provide advice on complex issues and support resolution of escalated issues.
- Identify risk mitigation strategies and develop new policies/procedures to support governance.
- Manage risk and strengthen controls related to your work.
- Collaborate across areas to achieve organisational objectives and support business strategy.
- Perform complex data analysis from multiple sources to solve problems creatively and effectively.
- Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and effectively.
- Influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
