Job Description

Brayford Medical Practice is a well-established city practice with an experienced and supportive clinical team caring for approximately 11,000 patients. We are looking for a salaried GP to join us on a permanent basis, with flexibility around 68 sessions per week.

We place strong emphasis on sustainable workload, clinical autonomy, supportive team working, and long-term professional wellbeing. We believe good general practice depends on clinicians feeling respected, supported, and able to work in a way that is sustainable over time.

Main duties of the job
  • 6 to 8 sessions per week - agreed and protected
  • Protected session structure with a focus on safe, sustainable clinical workload
  • Shared duty system with clearly defined frequency and senior support available when needed
  • Minimal home visiting, supported by the wider team
  • Admin time built into sessions
  • Opportunities to develop clinical interests over time, if desired

Job responsibilities
  • Provide routine and urgent GP consultations for patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Assess, diagnose, investigate, treat, and refer patients as appropriate
  • Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with local and national guidance
  • Review pathology results, clinical correspondence, and medication requests
  • Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using SystmOne
Team Working
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including GPs, ANPs, nurses, pharmacy staff, HCAs, and administrative colleagues
  • Participate in shared duty/on-call arrangements
  • Support safe delegation and escalation within the wider clinical team
  • Contribute positively to practice culture and team relationships
Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain full GMC registration and licence to practise
  • Maintain compliance with appraisal, revalidation, and mandatory training requirements
  • Participate in CPD and quality improvement activities
  • Work in accordance with GMC guidance and practice policies

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise (or expected by commencement of employment).
  • Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List (or eligibility for inclusion by commencement of employment).
  • Completion of GP specialty training by commencement of employment.
