Main duties of the jobWe're looking for candidates who bring a positive attitude, are fully registered with the General Medical Council, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- The post holder will undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, queries, home visits, reviewing and signing repeat and acute prescriptions, reviewing test results and patient correspondences, medical reports, and referral letters (NHS/private) in a timely manner
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from Federation team members
- Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collect data for audit purposes
- Work towards all QOF/LES and DES targets
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions wherever possible)
- Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and QOF standards
- A commitment to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
- Maintain an educational portfolio
- Contribute to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the practice
- Contribute to the development of computer-based patient records
- Attend training, practice/federation meetings and events organised by the federation or other agencies where appropriate
- Meet all timescales/deadlines for audits and written returns to ensure that the federation meets quality standards and receives the designated funding (e.g. annual QOF audit, out-of-hours audits)
- Participate in primary care led initiatives
- Qualified GP Practitioner with 2 or more years experience
