Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join our team has beencreated through succession planning for an enthusiastic experienced GP in women's health, to join our highly motivated team at Harewood to help us to continue todeliver and lead on the range of services required to meet our patient'sneeds.

The position is for 17-24 hours per week, flexibility to share the on call rota. Working days to be Wednesday (can be flexible), Thursday and Friday.

You will be joining a clinical team of 3 SalariedGPs, 3 Nurse Practitioners, 2 Clinical Pharmacists, 4 Practice Nurses and 2HCAs with a longstanding and high calibre administration team supporting.

Our practice is also supported by First ContactPractitioners for Physiotherapy and Mental Health.

Interviews to be held potentially on 10th or 17th July 2025.

Our practice is run by Heartbeat Primary Care, aCommunity Interest Company which also supports 16 GP practices across Hambletonand Richmondshire.

We are a PMS practice with a list size of around 8,400patients based in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire. Catterick is the BritishArmy's largest Garrison in the world and is set to double in size by 2030 withthe expectation that our registered list will also grow proportionately overthe next 8 years.

A new integrated care campus is currently beingbuilt to meet the requirements of this projected population growth and islikely to form the blueprint for similar facilities in communities with acombined defence and civilian population. We have a history of innovativeservice development to meet the needs of our population, which consists mostlyof the families of serving soldiers and second-generation army families whohave settled in the area.

Job responsibilities

In accordance with the Practice workplan, as agreed, the post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, issuing and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, clinical admin and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Makes professionally autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred internally within the Practice.

Receives patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and makes assessment of their health care needs.

Screens patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Develops care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols.

Provides counselling and health education.

Prescribes in accordance with the ICB prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Admits or discharges patients to and from caseload and refers them to other care providers internally or externally as appropriate.

Complies with relevant Practice policy/guidelines, e.g. safeguarding, confidentiality issues etc.

Is committed to lifelong learning, audit and effectiveness issues to ensure evidence based best practice.

Consults with patients in the surgery and at home visits as agreed internally between all partners.

Be available for on-call duties to answer patients telephone queries or carry out emergency home visits, or surgery consultations as appropriate.

Contributes to the evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting with colleagues.

Records clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards.

Compiles and issues computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).

In general, the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Contributes to the strategic management and development of the Practice e.g., in developing and contributing to Practice policies and guidelines.

Attendance at training, Practice Meetings and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.

Meets all tight timescales/deadlines for audits and written returns to ensure that the Practice meets quality standards and receives the designated funding (e.g., Enhanced Services returns, QOF, IIF audit etc.)

Ensuring full accreditation which will include full and unrestricted registration with the GMC, membership of an appropriate defence body, performers list and delivery of annual evidence for appraisal or accreditation purposes in keeping with National requirements at any time.

A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.

Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree
