We are currently looking to hire a Workplace Health & Safety Technician to join the team and support the Amazon Logistics Operational teams onsite. We are seeking an independent individual who can also be a team player with the current WHS team members. The successful candidate will be experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed, with a passion for safety and the ability to drive strategy to create an engaging, safe environment. They will identify, coordinate, and drive improvements in safety while engaging operational and other support function stakeholders. The role requires flexibility with travel and working hours due to the fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist with risk assessments as required and follow up on control measures to completion
  • Advise associates and managers on company procedures and legal requirements within the scope of Technician knowledge
  • Monitor the station for compliance with company safety procedures
  • Assist with the investigation of incidents to establish root cause and develop required action plans with relevant processes
  • Update internal records regarding incidents, near misses, and accidents
  • Collate and produce weekly safety reports as required
  • Attend health and safety meetings on a monthly basis
  • Undertake projects and information gathering to establish hazards and level of risk within the delivery station
  • Involve in action plans to ensure continuing compliance with legislation
  • Maintain confidentiality in matters involving safety investigations
  • Monitor Dock and Yard safety procedures to ensure compliance
  • Monitor Smart Handling safety procedures to ensure compliance
  • Carry out EHS training sessions for managers and associates as required

Basic Qualifications
  • Driver's license
  • Experience in an environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related field
  • Experience analyzing metrics to drive business improvements
  • Knowledge of national and local employment laws and regulations
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in warehouse operations and logistics or equivalent
  • Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments while meeting deadlines, or completing complex tasks quickly with little guidance and urgency
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects and adapting to change
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities; experience working with customers and delivering exceptional service
  • Ability to work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and influencing colleagues, collaborators, and stakeholders
  • Experience in team building, coaching, and management
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
