Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Director

SHEQ Director Circa £90,000 + Car Allowance and Additional Benefits Cambridgeshire

Irwin and Colton are delighted to be engaged on an exciting opportunity to recruit a SHEQ Director for a well-established utilities contractor. The role reports directly to the CEO and sits across the Group and Executive leadership teams. It's a strategic position leading an established SHEQ team and helping shape culture and safety leadership as the business continues to grow.

The successful candidate will lead a large Health and Safety team and report directly to the board, combining strategic leadership with hands on involvement across an extensive network of live sites.

Responsibilities for the SHEQ Director will include:

• Lead the Health, Safety and Wellbeing function, setting strategy and direction for a large, multi-disciplinary team
• Work closely with the board, clients and regulators to ensure compliance and build strong stakeholder relationships
• Monitor and report performance against KPIs, providing clear recommendations at senior level
• Support digital innovation, wellbeing initiatives and a positive safety culture across the programme

The successful SHEQ Director candidate will have:

• Senior leadership experience within power or the wider utilities industry
• Track record of leading and developing large safety teams
• Hold relevant health and safety qualifications and ideally be Chartered or working towards Chartered Membership of IOSH
• Excellent stakeholder management skills at senior and board level
• Strong balance of strategic and operational leadership
