This particular opportunity will suit a safety professional who has worked on civil engineering, industrial or large-scale construction projects where concrete works form a key part of the programme. This scope of work allows our employees to expand their experience and develop highly transferable skills throughout their careers.
The Role- As a Health and Safety Advisor with concrete works experience, you will support the safe delivery of a civil engineering industrial project, with a strong focus on concrete operations, site compliance and continuous improvement in safety standards.
- Typical responsibilities will include:
- Developing, implementing and monitoring EHS policies, procedures and site safety systems.
- Conducting regular site inspections, audits and risk reviews across concrete works and wider civil engineering activities.
- Supporting safe systems of work for concrete pours, formwork, reinforcement, temporary works, lifting activities, plant movements and concrete pump operations.
- Identifying hazards on site and working with project teams to close out corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Leading or supporting investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, and recommending practical actions to prevent recurrence.
- Liaising with project managers, engineers, contractors and subcontractors to ensure safety requirements are clearly communicated and followed.
- Monitoring and reporting on health and safety performance, site trends and areas for improvement.
- Keeping up to date with relevant health and safety legislation, guidance and industry best practice.
- Promoting a positive safety culture through coaching, toolbox talks and daily engagement with site teams.
- We are interested in hearing from professionals who possess:
- A degree, diploma or relevant qualification in Environmental Health and Safety, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a health and safety role within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Practical experience or a strong understanding of concrete works, including pours, formwork, reinforcement, plant, lifting operations and temporary works interfaces.
- Good knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation, construction regulations and site compliance requirements.
- Strong ability to carry out inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to engage site teams, subcontractors and management in a professional manner.
- Strong organisational skills, good attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced site environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- A full, clean Irish driving licence is desirable.
